With the commitment to extend the fervour and pride of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav“ initiative, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in association with Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) conducted a webinar on ‘Safety in Ground Handling Operations’ on 20th October 2021.
As a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, commemorating India’s 75 years of independence and celebrating the journey of this glorious nation, the virtually held webinardealt with pertinent issues with respect to safety and protocols in ground handling operations and witnessed presentation on the same by representatives from Airline Operators Committee, Domestic Airlines (IndiGo), Ground Handlers (CelebiNas), and the Airport Operator (MIAL). The session was moderated by the Director – Operations, DGCA-WR, Mumbai.
The webinar was held in a hybrid format wherein over 700 officials attended the session virtually (online mode) and in physical presence (offline mode). The webinar saw senior DGCA officials from DGCA India, New Delhi, and other DGCA Regional Offices, Airport Directors and senior officials from Aircraft Operators including Scheduled, Non-Scheduled and Private Operator, Ground Handlers, and other important stakeholders from airports across India in attendance. The webinar also had international attendees join virtually.

The virtual event was followed by an offline field activity on ramp at CSMIA, on safety measures being taken in ground handling operations by the airlines & ground handling staff for an aircraft turn-around as the final segment of the event.
