Beypore is ready to host India’s biggest water theme festival from Dec 26 – Dec 29, 2021. With a fun-filled blend of adventure and tourism – the water fest happening on the banks of Chaliyar River will have multiple attractions like Kayaking, Sailing, Kite Fest, Illuminated & Decorated Boat parades, Rowing, Stand Up Paddling and Navy & Coast Guard Show. There will also be a flea market and food pavilion for the visitors to enjoy at the fest. The water fest will be virtually inaugurated by Malayalam Mega Star – Padma Shri. Mammooty.
Public Works and Tourism Minister of Kerala – P. A. Mohammed Riyas says that this water fest will be an excellent comeback for Kerala Tourism to bring back the energy that Kerala has missed in the past couple of years. He also mentions that Kerala Tourism will always welcome innovative ideas in the future.
Program Committee Chairman of Beypore Water Fest – K.R. Pramod states that the fest will be attended by Abhilash Tomy and other prominent personalities. He also says that all covid protocols and safety precautions will be followed during the fest for the safety of the visitors and the participants.
The Navy team will display a search and rescue demo, which will be followed by a flypast of Coast Guard Dornier flights on the seaside. Naval band performance will be held at the Marina. The National Kite festival as part of the Water Festival will be held on the second day. For the first time bamboo raft race where people can create their own raft. The Coast Guard Helicopter show will be held on the North Beach and boat parade at the breakwater.
Beypore Water Fest 2021 will be hosting 4 different types of kayaking races, leisure sit on top, K1 sporting, whitewater kayaking on the beach, and sea kayaking, respectively, each type of kayak offers different skills and different types of watercraft and the objective is to promote all types of kayaking. K1 is an Olympic sport while other types are for leisure and adventure, in addition, there is a SUP race (stand-up paddling), which one of the fastest is growing watersports items in the world and soon expected to be considered for the Olympics. While the kayaking races are happening, there will be demos of sculling or rowing and other types of crossover water sports.
While these activities are going on, in parallel there is a sailing race, known as Sailing Regatta, the races are conducted by well-known sailing personalities such as Cdr Abhilash Tomy, Capt Tribhuvan Jaiswal, Cdr Prashant Menon, Capt Arun S in the country and supervised by the officials from the Indian Toppe class sailing association headed by Col. Alok Yadav. The kayaking races will be conducted by Coach Ratheesh B, former youth Olympics coach for India, winner of several national, Asian, and level medals, and resident coach of Jellyfish watersports. There will be world-class sailors such as Ayesha Lobo, Capt Vivek Shanbhag expected to join all the events that’s have been curated by Cdr Abhilash Tomy.
