NYC & Company Hosts a Virtual Sales Mission in India

From February 21-24, NYC & Company, the official destination marketing organization and convention and visitors bureau for the five boroughs of New York City, will host its first virtual sales mission for the travel trade in India since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. As international travel continues to expand, representatives from NYC & Company and eight New York City partners will provide timely updates on the destination and reconnect members of the travel trade with tourism products across the five boroughs.

“In 2019, New York City welcomed a record 336,000visitors from India, an annual growth of about three percent. With countless new and iconic hotels, attractions, restaurants, Broadway shows and more, plus increased flight capacity demonstrating a confidence in the NYC destination, we are bullish on the City’s continued tourism recovery. We look forward to reconnecting with our colleagues in the travel trade during this sales mission, and welcoming more Indian visitors to the five boroughs in the year ahead,” said Makiko Matsuda Healy, Managing Director, Tourism Market Development.

As part of the destination showcase, NYC & Company will be hosting a New York City quiz, with the chance to win exciting gift vouchers.

New York City highlights include new infrastructure upgrades across airports, train stations and the newly-expanded Javits convention center; hotels; arts, culture and performing arts; attractions; dining; shopping and more. Last month, NYC & Company launched NYC Winter Outingoffering citywide deals on hotels, dining, Broadway, museums, attractions, performing arts and tours. Theater deals are on offer in the destination throughout this month, with NYC Off-Broadway Week and an extendedNYC Broadway Weektaking place February 14-27.

NYC is committed to celebrating diverse communities across the five boroughs, with new permanent resources on NYCGO.com titled The Black Experience in NYC,The Latino Experience in NYC and The Asian Experience in NYC. These content hubs include neighborhood guides; videos; arts and culture highlights; interviews with local business and community leaders; and more; with new content to be added over time.

In June 2021, the organization launched It’s Time for New York City, the City’s largest-ever, multi-phased global tourism marketing and advertising campaign, including television, digital, outdoor media and partnerships–beginning in the United States, and then expanding globally. In September, NYC & Company also unveiled an iteration for the meetings and conventions sector, titled It’s Time to Make it NYC. The investment is made possible through American Rescue Plan Act funds secured and awarded by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer and former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio.

New York City’s Key to NYC program requires people ages 5 and older to show proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 for most indoor activities, including at restaurants, event spaces, venues, museums, attractions and more. Individuals must have received a FDA- or WHO-authorized vaccine to patronize these establishments. More information can be found in the City’s FAQ.
