Vegans, vegetarians or reducetarians on vacation do not have to limit their diets to salads whilst at LUX* South Ari Atoll. Plant-based food lovers can have an array of vegetarian and vegan ‘’Keen on Green’’ options across all 8 restaurants at the resort. Dishes that are plant-based, vegetarian, vegan, raw and locally sourced to reduce the carbon footprint are highlighted in green across all menus.
LUX* South Ari Atoll promotes a sustainable approach to resort life and tourism, becoming the first hotel group in the Maldives to acquire the SEMSI (Stock Exchange of Mauritius Sustainability Index) status. The property also is a Green Globe certificate holder, not only is equipped with an onsite Marine Biology Centre to study and protect the native whale shark population but also educates its guests on eco-tours and supports ongoing scientific research. It is the first resort in the Maldives recognized as ‘’Vegan-Friendly Hotel’’ by Vegan Welcome.

“We strive to include at least 35% of Keen-On-Green dishes in every menu of our restaurants. These are our signature flavourful options, equally divided between vegetarian and vegan recipes. And we position them not just as specifically “veg”, but as healthy and creative culinary experiences, attractive for guests of any food preferences and dietary requirements.” – says Mark Anthony Perera, the resort’s Executive Sous Chef. The Keen on Green concept also extends to kids’ menus alongside the classic choices, offering the juniors balanced and nutritious meals.
“We are keen on keeping our food offering not only healthy but also sustainable. In every of our dishes, you will find a special ingredient which can be traced to a local supplier, a small sustainable production, or even our own Herbs Garden. Our commitment is the planet’s wellbeing while helping our guests Celebrate Life through our food and beverage variety,” Chef Perera continued.
