Harin pursues a multi-faceted career as a choral conductor, singer, designer and educator. He is the Choral Director of the Colombo Philharmonic Choir and Chorus Master of the Chamber Music Society of Colombo.
Harin is a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, and Trinity College of Music, London in Voice and piano. He is also an Associate member of the Royal School of Church Music in the United Kingdom. Harin received his BA in Visual Communication from Northumbria University, Newcastle.
In 2019, he received the prestigious Ellen Battell-Soeckel Fellowship for choral conducting at the Yale School of Music to attend masterclasses with Simon Carrington, Thomas Murray, Beat Schaefer, and David Hill. This enabled him to perform at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival 2019, at Yale.
In New York, he attended masterclasses and performed with organist and choral conductor, Kent Tritle of the New York Philharmonic.
In 2021, Harin received a music research fellowship at the FundaçãoOriente, Lisbon to explore the Portuguese influence in Sri Lankan music.
Harin takes great pride and pleasure in his outreach choral projects, constantly striving to raise the standards of choral music in Sri Lanka.
This is his conducting debut in India.
