It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas and the team at Crowne Plaza New Delhi Okhla ushered into the festive spirit with the grand tree lighting ritual at the hotel. Themed ‘Journey To Tomorrow’, the 30 feet high tree has been decked up with 5200 flower carnations crafted from the recycled tissue papers. Inspired from the hues of rainbow colours, the tree is a visual masterpiece brought to life by Horticulture and Engineering team of the hotel in a time span of 11 days. Echoing the sustainable goals laid by IHG Green Engage, the glittering tree is a hope song for a better tomorrow.
The ceremony witnessed the gracious presence of students and teachers from Free Pathshala, a non-government organization that works towards providing quality education and development of underprivileged kids. The students won the hearts of the audiences with live choir and carol singing performances.
According to Shuvendu Banerjee, General Manager, Crowne Plaza New Delhi Okhla, “We do not inherit Earth from our ancestor; we borrow it from our Children. As a part of environment conscious global hospitality group IHG, environment conservation is one of the most important commitments that we owe to the planet. Our best out of waste tree is an attempt to create a dialogue around the sustainability and sensitize the community on how even small steps can have huge impacts. We invited students to be a part of the initiative as the change must begin at the grass root level. ”
The most joyful part of the evening was the Meet & Greet with the Santa Claus who had jingled all the way to Crowne Plaza New Delhi Okhla to curate a fun filled evening for the guest. The culinary team of the hotel has installed a mesmerizing Ginger Bread House at the lobby transforming it into a Christmas wonderland. The event witnessed the launch of Christmas Hampers and Goodies at French Heart followed by interactive games, dance performances, themed Hi Tea & more.
