Gabriella Demetriades, Co-Founder, VRTT Vintage
Luxury Pop, founded by Punit Anand, has been a trailblazer in the sustainable fashion movement in India for 8 successful years, and now with its recent merger with VRTT Vintage in March 2023, it has become the go-to online platform for the purchase and sale of pre-loved luxury goods in the country. Gabriella Demetriades, the co-founder of VRTT Vintage, has joined as the Creative Director for this revamped entity, and we can expect the brand’s legacy to exponentially expand through her distinct understanding of fashion, ethical consumerism and global perspective.
As a precursor to the upcoming World Environment Day (on June 5th), the brand hosted a Luxury Pop Sustainability Soirée on the 31st of May that allowed the guests to experience the behind-the-scenes activities pertaining to online reselling in real time. With Gabriella at the helm of creative decisions, Luxury Pop is now focused on ‘sourcing on-demand’ for its clients. Apart from luxury products, they will also be rehoming vintage rare finds from around the world, which also serve as viable investments for the buyers. To create an impact on the green consumerism space in India, Luxury Pop is also offering expert Spa & Restoration services to their clients that will help extend the lifeline of their valuable luxury products.
The soirée, which was held at the Deme Love store in Bandra, was co-hosted by founders Punit Anand and Gabriella Demetriades, alongwith their dear friend and popular Influencer, Ishna Batra.Media representatives and social influencers such as Malini Agarwal, Simone Khambatta and Sasha Tacker among others, all gathered to celebrate this unique merger.
While there was a collection of new arrivals such as belts from brands like Versace, Gucci and Hermès on display, the ‘Vintage Section’ was the highlight of the event and completely stole the show! As the name suggests it was a display of vintage bags with a special place in fashion history. One such item on display was the Chanel Patchwork Multicolor flap bag, an iconic bag
from Chanel’s Cruise Collection, which was graced by Blair Waldorf in the premiere episode of Gossip Girl season 4 back in 2010. Even after almost 12 years of its launch, this bag resells for a whopping amount of INR 300,000 on the Luxury Pop portal!
Another notable highlight was Karl Lagerfeld’s 1983 Chanel 11.12 flap bag which features the iconic CC logo lock that we have since come to know and love. Bought in 2013 by the previous owner, this masterpiece can be purchased from the portal for a superb price of INR 300,000.
That’s the amazing thing about Vintage luxury goods, the prices only go upward as we move ahead in time!
Other vintage bags on display were the Louis Vuitton Sac Lucie Mini shoulder bag, Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Owl Pochette Felicie Chain bag, Fendi Pink Shimmer Baguette bag, and the classic Lady Dior Mini bag. All these bags are priced between INR 60,000 – 250,000. What’s interesting is that all these bags came with special handwritten notes from the previous owners, talking about their decision to rehome these beauties and why they will always hold them close to their hearts!
Luxury Pop is home to a variety of product categories ranging from authentic designer bags, sunglasses, and footwear to clothing, belts and other accessories too. With shared values and vision, the new and enhanced platform is set to make a greater impact in the pre-loved and sustainable space by not only having international luxury brands on their portal but also rehoming well-established Indian brands.
After making its mark in India, Luxury Pop is now planning to expand its base to other locations such as the middle east. This move would not only garner a wider customer base, but will also help in adding Indian brands to the preloved space and make them globally accessible.
