As the year comes to an end and holiday festivities fill the air with joy, Indians are looking forward to making the most of the festive period and creating some holiday season memories with their loved ones. Booking.com, one of the world’s leading online travel agencies, today released its latest data on where Indian travellers are travelling to celebrate this festive period. Whether it’s visiting a Christmas market, enjoying a relaxing staycation at a city hotel or just lounging at a sunny beach, travellers are eagerly planning their getaways to embrace the holiday spirit.

Top searched destinations by Indians travelling domestically from 23-12-2023 to 02-01-2024 (with rank changes as compared to the same time last year in 2022):

While hotels continue to be the most popular accommodation type for Indian travellers, they are also exploring alternative accommodations while on holiday. Hotels, followed by resorts, guest house, villas and apartments are the top 5 most searched accommodation types for festive travel between December 23, 2023 and January 2, 2024

Methodology 

The datascientists at Booking looked at the most popular locations in India (searched domestic and international users) and nationalities of travellers searching for destinations in India based on booking data by all travellers for check-in dates between 2023-12-23 and 2024-01-02.
