Viva Carnaval at Porvorim, Goa

It is the season of Carnaval, the time of year when the streets of Goa come alive with music, dances, parades and cheer. People are all set to blend in the spirit of the awaiting festivities yet again.

The Porvorim Carnival Committee hosted Goa’s first-ever curtain raiser event as a prelude to the Grand Carnaval in the presence of esteemed dignitaries: Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon. Minister of State for Tourism & Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Government of India, Rohan Khaunte, Hon. Minister of Tourism, IT and Printing & Stationery, Government of Goa, Sanjeev Ahuja, Secretary Tourism, Government of Goa, Pravimal Abhishek,  IAS, Director of Tourism, Government of Goa, Jit Arolkar, Chairman; Housing Board  MLA – Mandrem Constituency and Kedar Naik, Vice Chairman; GSIDC, MLA Saligao along with other dignitaries. The parade was led by King Momo-the beloved King of Carnaval and was flagged off at 4:30 PM at Service Road, Porvorim.

Hon. Minister of Tourism, Rohan Khaunte greeted everyone during the carnaval. The crowd soared in high spirits, “VIVA Carnaval! VIVA Carnaval!” The procession was led by an orchestra, trumpets and bands playing the Goa Carnaval theme song along with dance performances.
